Although I loved the song "in color" and I know Jamey has written some other great songs, I was disapointed in this album, Therefore would proabably not buy another.
A classic, unique sound that no one in country music today delivers like Jamey Johnson. and Waylon Jennings. I highly recommend this album for anyone who desires that TRUE country sound. This entire album is exactly what country music needs. Hearing his voice instantly takes you back to that lonesome sound of Hank Jr.
Plus, considering all the stars that come through my work it was nice to learn that aside from being gifted, he's holds a down to earth attitude and is an all around humble human being.Jamey, I've got a fresh lime margarita (or 4) waiting for you if you ever make it back down to the Sunset Pier. I have not listened to Country Music since leaving small town So Il and moving to Key West. Don't let the fame kill your muse. Keep it real brother. Jamey played our bar a couple of weeks back, and I went home.jaw still open and purchased both his albums.Don't get me wrong, I used to love Country, and then it started sounding lame, and sounded nothing like the stuff Dad raised us on.The music Jamey makes is refreshing, and UNDENIABLY country, at least the country that I like. He is not afraid to air it all out, and he does so in a skilled lyrical fashion.
I love music that makes me FEEL, and this album does just that. The combination of acoustics and lyrics send chills up my spine. If you love true, timeless country music, Jamey Johnson will deliver. After listening to the sound clips on Amazon, I couldn't wait to get this album in my player. This CD is packed with fantastic instrumentals.
Here is an abum that tells a story. I have listened to this one several times and every time I think I have picked my favorite tune, another hearfelt line stands out in the next track.
One word of advice, if you can't burn a copy of this one, buy two copies. Anybody that appreciates true country will find That Lonesome Song a must have.
Every country song has a story to tell. In the tradition of ole Hank, Jamey tells of the wrongs he has righted.
You will wear the 1st one out before you get tires of hearing it. In todays industry, most songs tell this story.
Rarely does a collection come out from an artist that has lived every song.
